Hot Spring in New Zealand


New Zealand is composed of northern and southern island and many small islands. Northern Island has a big city: Auckland ( on the top). It is center of commerce and economy. The whole population of New Zealand is 4,000,000. The population of Auckland is 1,300,000, (it is one third of the population of NZ), and it is larger than Wellington. Why dose Auckland have so large population?
Auckland was a capital of NZ once because it has a large bay to stay a big ship. Since 1945 downward after the WWⅡ a lot of people from the pacific islands have come to Auckland. In 1996 it broke through one million people.
In 1865 the capital of NZ moved to Wellington. It had good ports and was center of the land, so that it was chosen as the capital.


In NZ, Hot springs are famous for sightseeing, for example, Rotorua, Taupo, Queenstown.

Rotorua was known for natural hot spring for about 160 years ago. Pink and White Terraces was hot spring like red and white stairs. It was the Eight Wonder of the World. However it was destroyed by erupting of the Mt Taeawera in 1886. Therefore Rotorua has been popular for hot spring, and today there is variety of treatments for health.




Hell's Gate is one of the most active geothermal areas in Rotorua. Hell's Gate has a biggest hot water waterfall in the Southern hemisphere, a mud volcano and a coral on ground. Long time ago, soldiers of Maori were cured the injury by the sulfur hot spring. There is a long history of Maori in here.
Hell's Gate has these characteristics: promote to resuscitation of the skin, remove dirt of pore, has strong moisture and a lot of minerals.
*How to take the mud spa*
1. Rub the mud on your body and face.
2. After 20minutes you shower.
3. Enjoy the sulfur hot spring or healing water.


In comparison with Japan
Today there are about 3000 hot springs in Japan because it has many volcanoes. Japanese hot springs have expanded in order to take a bath, but, in contrast, NZ ones as a resort.
In NZ, we must wear a swimwear when we take in. Also some hot springs have water sliders. So the scene of people taking a hot spring in NZ is very lively.

Apple Festival

I’m going to talk about “apples.” The apple has been called the loveliest of all fruits. North Carolina is an apple home of the maximum scale in the southeast. So North Carolina is a good place to produce apples and also one of the most important agricultural crops grown in Henderson County (it is the site of the Apple Festival.) Henderson County ranks seventh in production among all counties in the U.S.

The most widely-grown apples are Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Rome Beauty and Galas. In North Carolina there are many kinds of apples, for example, Honey Crisp Apples, Empire Apples, and Fuji Apples and so on. The apples of North Carolina are high quality because of the climate of North Carolina. The warm days and cool night here in the mountains are growing juicy apples.

During a normal year it brings in an average income of $22 million dollars or more. If we line up with apples from a normal harvest grown in the county, they would reach from Hendersonville to Tokyo and back!!

Halloween!!


Halloween is a traditional festival on the night of October 31st. Halloween has its origin in the ancient Celtic festival.
Celt had believed that end of the year was October 31st, and spirit of dead visited their family and witches appeared on that night. Saving one to wear a mask, and make a fire. On night of Halloween people make Jack-o’-lanterns(this picture →) which made in pumpkin to charm from evil spirit. Children dress up as witch or ghost, and visit house of neighborhood saying” Trick of treat (if people don’t give them sweets, they will mischief them).” At home, people make pumpkin sweets and children bring sweets that are given them to held Halloween party!

In Japan this event had known as American children do event through American movies and TV drama. However Halloween is not popular in Showa era in Japan because there are many fall festivals by shrines and the festival day for children aged seven, five and three. Afterward thanks to E.T. (movie) was a smash hit, Halloween was known to many people. And it was active in capital territory. In these days Tokyo Disney Resort and Universal Studio Japan is held Halloween event, so we can as experience it as Christmas.

My Favorite Movie


The Shawshank Redemption (Japanese title is”ショーシャンクの空に”)

This is my best favorite movie I have seen. This is an American movie, which released in 1994. It is based on the Rita Hayworth and Shawshank Redemption written by Stephen Edwin King. It was not so popular when it released then, but it became popular thanks to starting video rental. Now, there are so many fans. For example, Koizumi Junichiro, Utada Hikaru, and Matsumoto Hitoshi publish this title as a favorite movie on the Internet.

Plot: In 1947, Andy Dufresne (Tim Robbins), who was a successful bank clerk, was cast in prison for killing him wife. However actually he didn’t kill her, so he was in the Shawshank Prison regardless of innocence. First Andy was alone because of atmosphere of the prison, but he did never throe away hope, and believed free of tomorrow.
One day he met Ellis Boyd Redding (Morgan Freeman), who called Red and could fit out anything which someone wants to. Andy knew him, and he asked him to get a rock hammer, posters and so on. They became getting along well with each other. In addition Andy got to be trust by Red, friends, and even warden. Because he was an excellent bank clerk, he handled the bribe of warden. After that he broke prison by digging a tunnel by the rock hammer. Finally he got the freedom.
A few decades later Red was allowed going outside temporarily, but he couldn’t adapt to modern society. He lost hope. Suddenly he remembered a promise that Andy tell him to go to a big tree in Mexico before…


This movie’s theme is hope and life. We can learn that it is wonderful not to give up having hope strongly. It gives me a lot of impression. I feel refreshed after watching it. What is the meaning to live? What is the hope? What should I do when I face a difficulty? I cannot help saying to myself about these. It is not easy to answer these questions, but I think that I will live. Also I think friends are important by watching the last scene. I want to form friendship as Andy and Red because bonds of friendship unite them.

I really want you to watch it once!! You will change your mind.

My Summer Vacation


I had a good summer vacation. It was first for me that so long and no homework vacation, so I was very happy. The first day of summer vacation I went to Osu with my friends. However I had been to Osu once, I don’t kwon much there. It takes 30 minutes for me to go there, but I was 40minutes late that day. I was very sorry for waiting my friends. First, we gathered in coffee shop near the station. We ate lunch there, and chatted for 2 hours. After lunch, my friend took me to the Osu shopping arcade. It has a lot of shops and foods, so it is really fun. We enjoyed shopping. I bought a T shirt with camisole and a one-piece dress. The T shirt was famous brand, but 2900 yen. The dress was 900 yen! It was so cheap! I was very surprised. Osu is good place for shopping because it has many cheap and cute shops.




During The Bon Festival, I and my family went to grandpa and grandma’s house. They on my mother’s side live in Hachijo Island, and they on my father’s side live in Yamagata Prefecture. First we went to Hachijo Island by plane from Tokyo. Do you know Hachijo? it is the southernmost point of the Izu archipelago. There was not so hot. I could live without air conditioner! That’s unbelievable! I saw them after an interval of two years.When they looked me, they seemed to be happy. I spent on idling away at home, driving and shopping. One day I went to the mountain to get a Nakata’s ice-cream with my sister, father, aunt and uncle. It is famous ice-cream, and famous people come to Hachijo to eat this ice-cream. It is very delicious.




I spent 4 days in there; I went to Ueno in Tokyo. I’m interested in art, so I went to Tokyo Metropolitan Art Museum. A Vermeer exhibition is held there. There were many beautiful pictures, I was much moved.After that, I went to Yamagata Prefecture. My grandpa and grandma looked fine, so I was eased. Because they were farmer, I could eat as much as I liked corns and grapes. When I was a child, I often went to their field to harvest. I thought country life was good, too.


The rest of summer vacation I spent on joining to the summer camp, working part-time in curry restaurant, and doing club activity. Summer vacation of this year was full. But I have to study English!!

About Yoga


Yoga is one of famous exercise. It is ancient India in origin. Today many people practice it all over the world because yoga is effective in losing weight. This recently trend come from New York and Hollywood trend. It is easy to start and go on practicing.

In Japan, yoga has been getting more and more popular among women since 2004. Actually I practiced yoga before with Wii Fit. I had lost some of my weight. I think it’s for beginners. There are over 40 kind of training in Wii Fit. There are about 15 pauses in contents. If you continue training, you can try to do upper step training. Also virtual trainer encourages you during doing yoga. Why don’t you start yoga?

Step1. Put your right leg on your root of the left leg, and standing straight.

Step2. Straight back, and join your hands together in front of chest.

Step3. Both of your arms stretch horizontally breathing breath. The palms are downward.

Step4. Raise your arms snuffing breath, and join your hands together in front of right arm with crossed wrist.

Step5. Imagine expanding up and down by about five breaths.
